Submission Status for 2025 Research Symposium: Open
Eligibility
First author must be either:
An active Southwest Healthcare MEC resident or fellow in good standing
An active Western University of Pomona, UCR, or CUSM medical student in good standing
An active Murrieta Family Medicine resident in good standing
Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered
Abstracts are eligible if they have been published; however, abstracts based upon full papers that have been published are not eligible.
Abstracts previously submitted to the Southwest Healthcare Research Symposium (formerly the SoCal MEC Research Symposium) are not eligible
Submission Process
Before submitting your abstract, please review the entire page below to ensure appropriate abstract submission
All submissions will evaluated by our review committee and acceptance notifications will be sent to submitters by March 11th, 2025.
Accepted submissions will be selected for either oral presentation, or poster presentation based on discretion of the scoring committee
Abstract Categories

A clinical vignette is a report of one or more cases that illustrates a new disease entity, or a prominent or unusual clinical feature of an established disease. It may include a summary of pertinent patient history, physical findings, laboratory data, or management description.

Submissions can report on efforts to improve patient safety or outcomes measurement. Such efforts may be projects developed and initiated to promote patient safety and/or processes that have improved or created a safer environment for patients. Abstracts may also be submitted that relate to the use of outcome data, how to measure and convert data into information.

This category focuses on patient oriented research. Areas of research include but are not limited to: mechanisms of human disease; therapeutic interventions; clinical trials; development of new technologies; analysis of existing datasets; epidemiologic and behavioral studies; outcomes research and health services research.

Submissions can report on efforts in both the educational and administrative realm of medicine. For educational projects, this may include but is not limited to curriculum development, novel educational methods, and feedback techniques. For administrative projects, this may include but is not limited to policy and procedures creation.

Word limit for abstract submission is 350 words and DOES NOT include the words, “Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion, etc”
